well that's an interesting conundrum because I'm seeing two distinct things: Industrial Revolution and Statehouse and then the name John. So the Industrial Revolution occurred around the turn of the 19th/20th century but John who exactly? Wrong time for Johns that come to mind immediately. And where would your mother have been geographically? This is probably going to drive me nuts for awhile because I've decided it's definitely stateside based solely on the architecture of the building and the fact that the engraved John looks fresh. (and watch, it's going to turn out to be in Ecuador :-)

My mother was living in Cincinnati at the time, but was hanging with a group of friends who were traveling around. Could be Philly? Could be in Virginia? NYC anywhere? Could be Cincinnati or Cleveland, or Chicago...

Ruling out NYC unless I had my eyes closed in one particular location for 25 years. :-) Still working on it.

Seems like it should be a famous sculpture, somewhere...for someplace. I'm happy that you're checking into it, for I'm stymied.

Paradoxically, the shut-down of the AMOC and the resulting cooling of Europe will be the best proof of global warming.

As TS Eliot said in The Hollow Men,  "  This is the way the world ends     Not with a bang but a whimper" We know not what changes...
