A happy ending

Cleared the driveway and the trails on the homestead proper...went to strawbale to do same...dog tracks fresh, leading up and to the right on the driveway...we set up a trail cam a number of days ago but the dog has not shown up until now...Cheryl walked to the right, I drove to the left...the chocolate lab was in the half empty woodshed...and wouldn't let me approach closer than 5 feet or so...growling...she laid down, wary...I took a pic and went around to neighbors in a 5 mile radius...no one knew her...I say her because she was definitely ready to welp...I went home got some food, Cheryl filled a bowl with water...the girl (I'll call her Cocoa) scarfed the food, wagging her tail...I could pet her then...she was still hungry and looked with doe eyes...she was full of milk, but not yet lactating. I called our no kill shelter in Park Rapids...we agreed she was ready to welp...a woman came out within 30 minutes with a cage and a catch and pull lead...and more food...she scarfed then let me put the leash over her head and 'went for a walk' to the blazer...she was ready to load up but couldn't do it without a boost...which we gave her. Now she has a warm place to give birth...and we don't have to worry anymore...she was so sweet and beautiful, how could anyone have turned her away?

So compassionate of the workers and volunteers at the shelter...that's why we donate...consider donating, please?
